Slow to load dll on startup

Hi,
just upgraded to 10.01 and every time I start html validator it takes about 30 seconds to load the dll. I must admit that I don't know how long it took in previous versions becasue I normally use the batch wizard but it strikes me that 's a long time for it to take. Does it seem normal to you? (Win server 2003, 2.66Ghz cpu, 1 Gb RAM)

I've noticed longer than desired DLL load times, but it has not been as long as 30 seconds, so that is definitely too long. I think I have an idea what is causing this and will send you a link to a new version to try after I do a little more testing. I'm sorry for the trouble.

I have the same problem, but only the first time I load validator (professional). Using Win 7 32 bit Ultimate. Any news about this?

It's probably your virus scanner slowing it down. Try disabling it temporarily to see if it speeds up the load. You may also be able to tell your virus scanner not to scan the file or folder where CSE HTML Validator is installed.

Thanks for your prompt reply. It did the trick. I am using Security Essentials by Microsoft. I used NOD32 before and now I am considering going back to it. I will report back if that works. I am a bit nervous about telling the AV not to scan a whole folder.

I can confirm now that with NOD32 the problem does not arise.

Thanks. That's interesting. I use Microsoft Security Essentials myself and it usually seems to behave itself but it does indeed slow down CSE HTML Validator's DLL loading. I think the first time is slowest and future times it usually remembers the scan results from the last scan.

But often I will leave my anti-virus disabled for performance reasons and because it can cause miscellaneous problems, but I turn it back on when I'm doing something that might be "risky".
