Is there a way to spell check across tag boundaries?

Postby rpollack9379 » Wed Jan 19, 2011 11:44 am

Hi,

I'm using CSE Pro 7.0.1. I have the following HTML code in a document:

Code: Select all
<strong>Project Explorer</strong>window

This displays as:

Project Explorerwindow

It seems that a spellcheck of this document would catch the error, but it doesn't -- not in the editor and not in the validator. I tried checking & unchecking the 'Ignore Markup' option, which didn't work. I searched through the help and this forum to find a way to say something like "spell check across tag boundaries" that might catch this kind of error, but I didn't find an option that was what I am looking for. Perhaps I am searching for the wrong words :)

Is there a way to catch this error in CSE?

I'm sorry, there is no way to check this... providing an option to do so would probably be fairly complex and problematic because in some cases it wouldn't really be an issue, depending upon what tag is between the words and what the author desires.

But, as a manual workaround, you may want to make a copy of your document, then use the Quick Remove Tags/Extract Text option (in the Tools menu) to remove the tags, then do a spell check or look at the red squiggly lines that will appear if your version supports Live Spelling. When you find the errors, you'd then have to correct the original document.

Thanks Albert, your suggestion worked. I'll look at implementing this workaround in the nightly spell check process my group uses at work.

Actually one more question for you. Is there a way to execute this command on the command line or otherwise have it be a global option we can enable for batch processing?

Hello,

Yes, you can run the remove tags tool with a command line option using the command line processor. You can also select it as the tool to use in the Batch Wizard, so you can run it on multiple files.

Please have a look here (at the -s option):

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any more questions.
