Integrated Browser crash with embed YouTube videos

Postby Yolanda » Sat Apr 09, 2011 8:10 pm

I have discovered that with IE 9 latest download that CSE HTML Validator crashed with first a warning that invalid floating point error has occurred then dies necessitating the removal of embedded YouTube videos in the web page.

I have reported this problem and wanted to know if others are encountering this bug?

A work around is to remove the embedded YouTube video code from the web page and just put a link for visitor to view the video on YouTube. This is going to be inconvenient for me and I would prefer the problem be solved by CSE HTML Validator since there is something about their integrated browser that permitting their software to crash. The code when edited by another program works just fine with the embedded YouTube video in it.

For now, I am avoiding using the integrated browser, and am using the external browser feature of CSE to view my modified web page code. I do think CSE HTML software developers should correct the problem with their program since it is abending inside CSE program code. I doubt that YouTube or IE 9 is the culprit but now suspect it is the new version 10.01 of CSE HTML Validator software.

More testing has shown that the CSE floating pt abend for web pages with embedded YouTube videos is a problem for 64 bit computers Vista Home Premium and not for Window 7 users. It is a problem for 10.01 version and not for 10.00 with the latest IE 9 browser. I have 2 laptops (Vista 64 bit) and one HP Destktop Windows 7 so am able to selectively isolate the problem's occurrence ..

With problems like this, I always wonder if an anti-virus or other system software could be interfering (as they have been known to cause problems before). Have you tried turning off these background programs and seeing if it makes a difference?

As an update for this issue, I have tried to reproduce this with the latest v10.02 release under Windows 7 x64 and Vista x64 (both using IE9) and could not reproduce this problem.

One possibility is that there has since been an IE or Flash update that corrected it. CSE HTML Validator v10.02 is also built on a newer platform than previous versions, and that may have had an effect as well.
