validator immediately shuts down after launching

Postby ray.evans » Fri May 13, 2011 10:40 am

I just upgraded CSE Html Validator (cse-html-validator-100203pro-setup.exe) on one machine. I had to run the installer twice, as there was an instance of the application already running - only visible via task manager.

After the installation completed, the program started, and the window immediately closed. In Task Manager, there is still an instance of cse100.exe running (on a Windows 2000 server, w SP4).

It could be (and sounds like) a problem with security software you are running. Please see this thread:

By the way, we no longer officially support Windows 2000, but I would think v10.02 would still run on that OS. It does sound like a 3rd party program is shutting it down or interfering.

Thank you Albert,
Disabling McAfee yielded the same result. I rolled back to the previous version of the validator and the application stays open.

This machine is slated for an upgrade, so I'll just upgrade the validator at that time.

Cheers,
Ray

OK, sounds good. Please let me know if you still have problems with the new machine.

By the way, I really like Intel's new (relatively) "Sandy Bridge" platform. Our web server (for htmlvalidator.com) was just upgraded to a i5-2500K system with 8GB of RAM and is working great... it's much more powerful and more energy efficient than the previous server.
