One document at a time please

Postby olbeggaols » Thu Jul 21, 2011 7:25 am

Hello Albert,

I have looked through the FAQ and did not see this issue. I note that when I validate a file in a TextPad workspace (and later elsewhere) the previously validated files are listed in tabs at the foot of the window. To me this indicates that they are being stored somewhere which is a waste of space for me. I need to open, see, and validate only one file at a time and then close it and delete temp files. (I think even the temp files are not being delected upon shutdown of the computer).

Can you point me to a resolution of this issue?

In TextPad, the validation results should be in the Tool Output tab. I'm not sure why it is opening multiple tabs with the results.

Can you post/attach a screen shot of the issue as I'm not exactly sure what is happening? Thank you.

Hello Albert,

As you can see I am using HTML Validator as an external tool in TextPad. Arrow points to multiple tabs that point to documents in the TextPad workspace I am using. However, opening HTMLV without a workspace open still brings up a bunch of tabs relating to recently evaluated files. This looks to me like temps are not being cleared.

Thanks. That helps a lot.

You probably want to uncheck the "Reopen documents that were open at the last shutdown" option in CSE HTML Validator's Options->Editor Options->Startup Page, but this won't delete the files. CSE HTML Validator only automatically deletes its own temp files but I suspect these temp files are created by TextPad.

You can also hit Ctrl+W as a shortcut to close a file.

OK, Albert, thank you, that did what I wanted. I did look, couldn't find that one.
