Editor problems.

Postby RSteinwand » Wed Aug 03, 2011 10:56 am

Hi Albert, I think I found a bug with re-do.

Type some text, CTRL-Z will undo it.

CTRL-Y will redo it.

Press CTRL-Y again and it starts deleting lines below the cursor.

OR

Open a doc and start pressing CTRL-Y and it'll delete lines.

Another complaint with the editor....

Find a warning or message in the results section that specifies a line number. Click somewhere else in the editor, then click the error message in the message area. The cursor will move to that error in the editor. Hold down the shift key and press right-arrow to highlight that word and the selection starts where you previously clicked. Most editors will just highlight from the start of the cursor to the new cursor location.

If you can't reproduce this, try a different error or a different html page. Some seem to work, others never do. I can't reproduce it on a css file.

Finally.... spell check wants to check the spelling anything in quotes or comments in my inline scripts. Unchecking "markup language" didn't help. Is that by design? I'd prefer not.

Thanks for your time.

Thanks. It looks like the keyboard shortcut for deleting a line was not set correctly. It should be Shift+Ctrl+Y but it was set to the same shortcut as the redo option. Fixed in the next release.

I can't reproduce this. Can you send me a document that you can reproduce it with?

Are you referring to the spell checking when validating (as opposed to F7 in the editor)? If so then please look at the Validator Engine->Spell Checking Page in the Validator Engine Options. Perhaps you have your scripts in HTML comments and the option to check spelling in HTML comments checked? If this doesn't help then please supply a simple example document that demonstrates the issue.

Fortunately I had already addressed a similar issue so that helped. :D

As for spelling, can you send a small document that I can use to work with the spelling issue? I'm assuming you have enabled the option to check spelling in comments (in the Validator Engine Options) but it is checking some comments that you don't want spell-checked. Is this correct? Also, I'm assuming you are talking about the validator engine spell-checking, which generates the misspelled word message and not the editor spell-checking via F7.

So if you could send me a small sample document and detailed what you want checked and what you don't, then I may be able to address or improve this.

Thanks!

The document I emailed earlier had problems with spell checking, if you still have it.

I used the spellcheck button on the toolbar (F7).

Even with "check spelling in comments" unchecked, I still get spell checks of quoted text in inline scripts like this in red:

<script type="text/javascript">
function SavePrefs(){cookieForms('saveall','calc');}
</script>
</body>

... or the Google Analytics scripts.

I would think excluding comments and anything between <script> tags would help me.

Checking just between the <body> tags would not since I have post-loaded scripts before the closing body tag, where it appeared most of the major players put them.

With "comments" checked, it does nothing usefull, IMO.

Hi Rick,

Yes, I still have the document and now understand that you are using the editor spell-checker and not the validator engine one when you encounter this problem.

I believe I also understand the details of what is happening. Unfortunately I do not currently know of an easy way to have the editor's spell checker ignore the contents of script elements but I will make a note of this to see if I can do anything to improve this situation for a future release.

Unchecking the "comments" checkbox does help and most of my inline scripts are at the end of the page so not too bad.

Thanks again.
