Windows 8 install keeps listing v12.0.0000 as a new version

I've just installed the first release of CSE HTML Validator Pro v12 on a new Windows 8 PC.

Every time I click "Check for updates" it tells me there is a new version available and then lists the version I have already downloaded and run.

This gets very annoying very quickly. There is no such problem if the software is installed under Windows 7.
