New "Recover from mismatched quotes" feature

Postby Albert Wiersch » Tue Oct 10, 2006 4:08 pm

CSE HTML Validator v8.00 has a new feature to try to recover from mismatched or missing quotation marks. Since this feature is new and not tested to the extent as the other features, it could be "fine tuned" and I expect it to be in a future update.

If this new feature detects missing quotation marks where there really aren't any, then you may want to disable this feature until a further update. To do this, uncheck the "Recover from mismatched quotes" option in the Validator Engine Options->Validator 2 tab.

An example of a validator message generated by this new feature is:
Missing quotation mark detected here or near here.

If you do find a snippet of HTML that causes CSE HTML Validator to incorrectly think there is a missing quotation mark, then please post the snippet here.
