Checking pages that use posted content

Postby ajtruckle » Mon Mar 22, 2010 1:56 pm

Hello

I have a search engine (using php to build the results from the db). It takes the posted text from the search form and away it goes.

Now, since it relies on posted content to build search results, how can I test this page with the validator?

Hi Andrew,

You can try using the integrated web browser in browse mode:
http://www.htmlvalidator.com/htmlval/v9 ... rowser.htm

You could also use the "File->Open from the Web" function to open a URL like this:
Code: Select all
http://www.domain.com/search.php?search=search+text

Manually you could use a web browser, view the source, then copy and paste it into CSE HTML Validator and hit F6 to validate.

I was able to use the embedded browser. I could not use ?txtSearch=hello because the final page uses $_POST and not $_GET. That is how I understand it anyway.

Atleast I was able to check.

Thanks.
