Use validator in NoteTab pro as default user on Win7

Postby salto » Fri Apr 23, 2010 6:14 am

I changed OS to Windows 7 and installed HTML validator (of course), which I often use together with NoteTab Pro, my main HTML editor. Both tools are the recent version. HTML validator can be activated by a short key in NoteTab, however not with my current installation. The results do not show because access is denied to the clipbook library of NoteTabPro. When I execute NoteTab as admin, it works fine, HTML valiodator launches the validation report. I am wondering if there is something I can change in CSE Validator to get access to NoteTab for default users as well, so I do not have to work as admin all the time, which for several reasons is quite unpractical.
Advice most welcome.

I'm not sure I understand the exact issue, but it sounds like a privilege/permission issue. If CSE HTML Validator cannot access something, then you could try running it with admin privileges by changing the properties on the shortcut (in the Compatibility tab).

While I haven't used Windows 7 yet I do use the current version of NoteTab Pro and CSE (beta) and I agree it's probably a permissions issue with NoteTab. I avoid problems like this when I install NoteTab by not letting it install itself in the default C:\Program Files\ folder, instead I install NoteTab in a folder I have created and thus have full permissions for.

Hi Albert/John,
Thank you for your quick replies. Indeed, it had to do with permissions, but I did not know where to change the permissions, in Notetab or in the Validator.
I reinstalled NoteTab in a directory I created myself, so now I have ownership and HTML validator has full access.
I love simple solutions, thank you so much!
