Bug in version 10

Postby MikeGale » Wed Jul 28, 2010 9:30 pm

Hi,

I just experienced a problem in version 10.

It happened as follows:
1) On a Windows 2003 machine.
2) I fired up the editor and went to the batch tool from there.
3) In batch tool I loaded a validation list and ran it. (The site I checked was updated yesterday by somebody else and threw a few hundred errors and warnings. Not sure whether that means anything!)
4) I exited batch tool then attempted to exit the normal application. The normal application put up a no content dialogue, which wouldn't close.
5) Each time I selected the CSE icon on the bar another of those empty dialogs appeared.
6) I killed the process and it seems to have gone away.

Hello,

It sounds like a problem I've been trying to find for awhile now but haven't had much luck. If you can reliably reproduce this problem, then I really want to know how! I haven't found a reliable way to reproduce it yet, so it has been very difficult to track down.

I just had a go at reproducing it.

Not an exact match for what I did before but close. Problem did not recur. If it does, and it's reproducible I'll post details.

Good to see the new logo starting to show up!

Great. Please do. This issue is definitely on my mind so I am still doing things to try to find and correct it, but a way to reliably reproduce it would help a great deal (though it doesn't look like that's going to be the case).

Yes, me too. I think it is an improvement. :D

I'm sporadically experiencing the same problem -- is there a way to run the batch tool in debug mode?

The Windows application log ain't very helpful:

Sorry, no, there is no "debug" mode you can turn on.

I've tried my own "debugging modes and methods" to find this problem, but so far have not had much luck. I will keep looking for it now and then when there is a good opportunity to do so. I suspect something may be causing memory corruption, but I can't find anything wrong, at least not yet, in my own code.
