Change default layout

Postby NickOg » Thu Oct 22, 2009 3:10 pm

Hi,

I am a Topstyle user from way back. I was sure that somehow I could change the default layout. How do I do that? Can I? I have just plain forgotten and can't find any reference to it.

Regards

Nick

When you change your IDE (customize toolbars, drag-n-drop panels, etc) then you're basically changing your current layout, and those changes are persistent. When you want to revert back to the Default (of Full, or Minimal) layout, select Options > Manage Layouts, and then open Default (or Full, or Minimal).

Thanks Stefan - but that doesn't seem to be happening. I closed several docks and tool bars , added some edit tools, for example and then closed down. When I start up again those changes are lost.
Actually, I have just found something out. I fired TopStyle up using 'run as administrator' and made some changes that were retained over a restart. Subsequent changes while not running as administrator are retained over restart. So my problem is resolved but the situation is a bit odd!

Regards

TopStyle 4 creates/writes the layouts to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Bradsoft.com\TopStyle\4.0

You'll need write access to this directory. I'm assuming this is no problem on Win7, but you might want to verify this.

Hello Stefan

I am not sure why but with the latest version of Topstyle I can't get it to save my layouts. I have changed the protection on the directories as per this topic but with 4.0.0.81 it doesn't work! Any ideas? Using Vista not W7

Do you have write access to this directory?

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Bradsoft.com\TopStyle\4.0

Simply try and copy a .txt document in there. Does this work?
