Improving spell check

Postby roedygr » Wed Mar 23, 2011 9:33 pm

There are two things I would like it if the spell checker could handle.

<b>A</b>merican

Will trigger a spelling exception. I wish it did not. It should act as if tags were not there.

ne&eacute; will trigger a spelling exception. I would like it if it converted entities to Unicode chars then did the spell checks. I have all kinds of words on my website with accented letters.

There are some tags tags that should be invisible to the spell checker like <big> <strong> <i> and others that should act like a space e.g.
<a> <br><p><dt><tr><td>...

Thanks for the suggestion. I have an idea of how this might be implemented and will look into for a future version/update. Currently I'm trying to finish up work on v10.02 and get it released.

To Roedy (and anyone else who is interested and has a v10.0 pro+ license): There have been a lot of Batch Wizard changes for v10.02 so please email me if you'd like to test v10.02 before it is released. Thanks!

I've been working on this spelling feature today (in v10.0149). If anyone would like to test it then please PM me. Thanks.

UPDATE: These are the elements it should ignore when in the middle of a word: "b", "big", "em", "font", "i", "small", "span", "strong", "u"

The validator engine spell checker (but not the editor spell checker) should convert character references when doing spell checks. Are you sure it Is not doing this? Also, please make sure the word is in an active dictionary.

If you are still having issues, then please send me a sample document.
