The main things I hope for on this beta are:

Easy things:

1. Command line will work even if HTMLValidator is already running. It it should interpret filenames according to the CWD not the WD when it was loaded. The new instance surely knows the new CWD even if the old one might have trouble discovering it.
CWD = Current Working Directory. I could kludge around this by writing a script in TCC to always feed HTMLValidator absolute rather than CWD-relative filenames. But not everyone can do that .

2. ability to load and verify a single file from the command line, with say the -ev option (edit and verify)

3 . ability to remove word from the spelling dictionary

Harder things:

1. spell checking in the editor when there embedded tags or entities.

2. all files that failed batch validation are automatically loaded into the editor.

3. When you install a new version, rescue as much as you can of my old config. I have now written down my config in English and how to reconstruct it because I have been been bitten so often, not knowing which of my old files I could insert safely. see http://mindprod.com/jgloss/htmlvalidator.html

4. ability to spell check and correct UTF-8 documents, with accented and other odd chars you cannot key.

Just an update on this...

1. This should be done/fixed in v11.01.

2. You can use the "-o" option and set CSE HTML Validator to validate documents when opened.

3. You can specify a "forbidden" or excluded word in a custom dictionary. More info is here: http://www.addictivesoftware.com/ed-dictionaries.htm

Harder things:

1. I've requested this feature (to the spell-checker guys).

2. I'm going to consider solutions for this in v12.

3. CSE HTML Validator does try to rescue as much of your old config as it can, although the config file changes are not usually kept because it uses a new config file (to get the latest updates). In v11, there is an option to specify a "user functions" file. When using that file your changes can be kept through newer versions, however there is a limitation on what can be done. If you want to do something but can't do it in the user functions file, then please let me know exactly what you'd like to be able to do/configure in there. More information is here: http://www.htmlvalidator.com/htmlval/v1 ... ctions.htm

4. Do you have an example file you could send me? I'd like more details for this issue.

Thanks!
