disappointment

I had a look at the release notes for 11.0. There was nothing on there of any importance to me. It was mostly cosmetic, hardly worthy of a new major version number.

I would have hoped for at least one of my biggies if I have to shell out money.
1. spell check around tags.
2. spell check around entities
3. command line verify and exit if ok
4. command line batch, and exit if ok, show me the bad if not.
5. nailing the shutdown bug
6. fast batch verify by avoiding reverify of unchanged files.

I am a programmer and I don't see these requests as outrageously onerous. If the project were coded in Java, I would just write you some code and hand it to you to integrate.

Hello,

I'm sorry you are disappointed. There are many changes "under the hood" however, and I think v11 is definitely a worthwhile upgrade. :D

I've reported the spell-checking issues to the developers of the components I use that provide that service and I believe implementation of at least one of your spell-checking suggestions is underway.

I've added some of the other requests to my "to do" list for possible future implementation.

The shutdown bug continues to elude me but it is definitely on my mind. I do think v11 is more stable than v10, however. Shutdown problems seem to be reduced. Fortunately if this random shutdown problem does occur, it's after all work and options have been saved.

#6 could be rather time-consuming.. the main issue I see is that even if the file is unchanged, the validator options and settings could have changed, so it's not a simple of matter of only keeping track of whether the file has changed. Also, not validating a file would also cause any links it contains to not be followed.

For folder targets, you can use the "Limit to Age" option in the target properties to reduce the number of targets that are checked. If I recall correctly, I think I added this because of one of your previous suggestions awhile back, so I suspect you probably already know this. :)
