A site-wide spell check for v8.0 would be Awesome! PLEASE!?!

Postby Bob » Fri May 12, 2006 5:07 am

I do realize there is already a spell-check component built into CSE now. But, to be brutally honest, it is awkward at best - buried in page reports.

Would it be too hard to merge all of those individual page spelling reports into the grand total typos list where we can follow a link to go fix those?

I think that would be AWESOME!

As it is, when there are lots of pages, it's just too inconvenient to find the right section in all the individual page reports. I know I can modify CSE to upgrade typos to a warning or an error to make them more obvious, but that is really just a workaround. Typos are indeed errors, but most pages use some jargon or industry words that it's probably best left as a comment.

I think having this feature (something DW does NOT have yet!), perhaps only in the Pro version, would result in more registrations and upgrades!

Please tell me this is do-able! :)

Thanks for your consideration!

Bob,
I add "jargon" to a custom dictionary. This way I don't get a comment for correctly spelled industry words and the spell checker makes sure I spell them the same across all pages.

Hi Bob,

Have you tried the "spell check" tool in the Batch Wizard? The generated reports should be much better for finding spelling issues when this tool is used as generally only the spell checking message should be displayed.

You can choose this tool in the General tab of the Batch Wizard Options.
