Sitemaps

Hi,

I see that Yahoo, MS and Google have agreed on a sitemap format. See www.sitemaps.org .

Long overdue in my view, very glad it's happened.

So we'll start seeing files like:

<xml>
<urlset>
<url>
<loc>http://www.example.com/</loc>
<lastmod>2006-11-17T08:00:15+12:00</lastmod>
</url>
<url>
<loc>http://www.example.com/faq.aspx</loc>
<lastmod>2006-11-17</lastmod>
</url>
</urlset>

being widely used. (Note: the editing tool doesn't show everything I entered here. However everything can be seen on the site!!)

For edit by hand people this is going to get boring to check and annoying.

I recommend checking in CSE. For example it would be useful to know that you've not made a mistake with that date format.

If past experience is anything to go by a lot of free tools will be used, and they'll often produce illegal files.

Thanks! I'll look into this for a future update. I'm glad to hear that they've agreed on a format.
