Indication of progress when link checking

Hi,

Having recently done a lot of link checking I've become more keenly aware of the interface.

A couple of suggestions:

1) Progressively show results of link checks. When link checking the status of all links shows when all are done. For some pages this can involve a long delay (i.e. pages with links that time out). It would be valuable to see the status of tested links before the end. Say after easy links have been tested (where easy might be: one try and pass within one tenth of timeout).

2) Reclaim link check progress indication. There is a textual indication of link checking progress in the status bar (xx%...). If I put the mouse cursor over UI elements (like check stop button) that status bar is filled with other text and the progress indicator does not return. It would be good to have that progress indication again when checking is slow.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the suggestions. I've made a note about this and will probably be able to improve this in a future version. In fact, I was able to easily make a quick change that will help with the link check progress text in the status bar. This change will be in the next update.

Currently, you should be able to manually refresh/update the link checking results by right-clicking in the Links tab and choosing Refresh View.

v8.0301 is available now which makes this change and fixes some other issues. Feel free to download v8.0301 and see if the link checking status in the status bar works better. It should stick around longer now and be in bold, green text.

I got past some annoying programming today and had a play with the new indication.

Much improved, thanks very much.

Easier to keep tabs on those difficult pages with slow link checking.
