Hello,

We hope for continued improvement with UTF-8 compatibility. The problem is that the framework the program is built on does not support it very well, however, there is an update in the works (slow in coming but coming nonetheless).

So I hope to continue to improve Unicode and UTF-8 support in future versions.

UTF-8 for encoding Japanese with 9.0 beta is much improved over the display with 8.04, but still has some problems if some reserved ASCII characters a part of the 2-byte code page in Japanese. I will email you some sample files.

Thanks. I am happy to hear it is much improved. I will pass the information you emailed me to the developers of the new editor component being used in v9.0.

I've received a response from the editor developer and he says Japanese font is variable-width and the editor doesn't currently support that, but support is planned for a future version. Unfortunately I know practically nothing about Japanese. :(
