Useful link checking feature?

Would anyone find it useful if CSE HTML Validator could link check a file that contained an http link on each line? You'd just have to hit F6 like usual, but if CSE HTML Validator detected that it was a link per line, then it would use the link checker to check the links.

This would be useful if you wanted to check a list of links using CSE HTML Validator and could create a file with one link per line.

On the spur of the moment I can't guarantee how much I'd use it but there is an area where I think it would be useful.

Files which are not X/HTML and contain URL's. (Sitemaps, favourite lists...)

In that case a capability to identify where the link came from, say with a line format "URL Description"; where Description tells you the source, would be valuable. Description might be as simple as "line X". If that detail was echoed to the exception message it would be especially useful.

A capability in the editor to extract URL's, and build such lists, would increase uptake. At it's simplest the list could be put onto the clipboard.

Thanks Mike, that gives me some additional ideas. It sounds like an interesting feature to have an option to try to extract links from any type of text file and be able to check them with the link checker and also be able to make a list of the links that the user could print, save, or copy.

I went ahead and implemented this feature - checking a list of links (one per line). I have not yet implemented a similar feature to find and extract the links from any type of text document but I may decide to do so in the future. If anyone would find such a feature useful, then please let me know.
