My trusty text Slick Edito editor has packed it in. I will not run properly on Windows 7 in 64 bit mode. I had a look at Dreamweaver. It is $400 US.

I would like something fast for editing HTML that can do:

1. macros
2 render the html as I edit, or on a very short cycle so I can see what my latest edit will look like.
3. Java-style regex search/replace
4. fast to start.
5. under $100
6. can tidy HTML (indent, new lines)
7. smart enough to correct minor errors, or at least highlight them on a keystroke basis.

Hello,

Those are good features but may not get implemented in CSE HTML Validator as it's mainly meant to be a great HTML, XHTML, CSS, link, etc checking tool so most development goes into the validator/checker.

I suggest giving TopStyle 4 a try. It integrates well with CSE HTML Validator.

For straight text editing, I use EmEditor, which also integrates with CSE HTML Validator, at least the 32-bit version of EmEditor as there is also an x64 version. I use the 64-bit version of EmEditor on Windows 7 x64. I don't use the CSE HTML Validator integration because I use it in CSE HTML Validator itself.
