Here's the error:

"[118] The text content of the "a" element begins and ends with whitespace. This may not be wanted."

I can't make it go away either.

It's the clicking on the error in the message area at the bottom that causing the black background.

I tried to reproduce this and couldn't. The black highlighting appears as it is suppose to when the message is clicked but it also disappears when it is suppose to, like when clicking on another validator message that highlights another section of text. Does this not work this way for you? When you click on the message below the [118] message, does it not remove that highlight and put the highlight on the "span" tag?

It does move if I click on another error, but it does not go away if I try to type in the black area. All I can do is click on another error to move the black selection area somewhere else.

I'm used to the previous behavior where the selection would go away if the mouse is clicked in that window. This one never goes away for me.

Hi Rick,

I checked v9 and the highlight selection does not go away simply by clicking the mouse, so the behavior appears to be the same. I don't see any inconsistency. Maybe it is just more noticeable since it is a bigger highlight.

For example, when you click on another message and it highlights a tag, does the highlight disappear when you click the mouse in the window? It shouldn't either.

No it doesn't go away. I guess I didn't notice it until v.10.
