False positive with VIPRE Antivirus

On the anti-virus front.

The 3C beta (cse100) was identified as "Worm.Win32.AInfBot.l (v)" by VIPRE.

Thanks Mike. I confirmed with virustotal.com. I will contact Sunbelt about this false positive.

I don't envy you fixing these false positives. Seems to me that the anti-virus industry is a horrible place to be at present.

It's not fun. It seems many anti-virus companies get overzealous to support their claims of stopping malware, often to the extent of interfering with legitimate programs.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials installed now and I have it off most of the time to increase performance and to try to avoid the issues and interference caused by anti-virus programs. Of course I am very careful when installing software on the computer.

It is a pain. I just started using a log analysis application that suggest putting the data base directory on the "do not scan" list to prevent anti-virus/malware programs from corrupting it.

I does make for a delicate balancing act, for all.
