I like it

I think this version is much nicer than previous versions (it may have been awhile). In particular, the ability to control which error messages appear is much needed. I had a little trouble finding how to shut off some of the errors/warnings but I did find it.

On startup, I notice HV takes up most of the screen and cannot be resized. It looks broken. What is happening is that a modal dialog is being brought up but is not yet on screen. IMO, this should be changed to one of following:

1) the dialog be made non-modal
2) an obvious splash screen be shown instead of main window until dialog dismissed
3) a warning message be shown in client area of HV

One other comment / suggestion I have is that the reload function should be a button. I was very often making changes and re-testing. Before the changes could be validated, they had to be re-loaded. Combining these two in a single button would be a timesaver. I did use the ctl-shft-R shortcut but with many windows on screen, sometimes the shortcut went to the wrong window. A button would be real nice.

It would be nice if the spelling dialog was non-modal because the way it is now prevents the source and/or browser image from being scrolled. This is very low priority for me since I figured out that I should be viewing source in an external editor and with external browser.

I spent several hours working with this beta on a real problem I was tracking down and on one of my web pages. The thin-ness of my comments reflects that this program is in very good shape. Like I said, I like it.

I didn't get a hidden dialog at startup, just the registration dialog that accepted the registration info from the clipboard. I didn't notice if that was modal. I was able to resize the window after registering.

I thought of something else which would be very handy: auto-insert CRLF on read.

Situation: I am generating html on the fly in a script. Some of the html is hundreds of lines long, with no line break.

HV will word-wrap so I can see the source. It would be nice to see red error highlighting in a small number of lines rather than for the entire text.

There is no easy correspondence between where something is in the html and where it is in the script source code so don't get too hung up on destroying line numbers. I will be editing the script, not the html output from the script.

Over time, I may be adding CRLF to my scripts but having HV do it automatically for me would be nice.

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the suggestions. I think the "broken look" may have been due to a modal tip forum I was using, which I've since changed to non-modal. I hope that helps as that seems to be the most serious issue you reported.

I'll see if I can add a reload toolbar button.

Hi Dennis,

The current BETA now has a reload toolbar button. Thanks for the suggestion!
