Question on errors

Postby nreiter » Sat Apr 03, 2010 11:15 am

I'm getting the following errors on my home page at http://www.sashasoft.com/index.htm yet the page can be validated at http://validator.w3.org and none of those errors show up. In fact, all the tags have ending tags on the page.

Validator message export for "D:\Documents\Webs\sashasoft.com\index.htm":
Generated by CSE HTML Validator Professional v10.00 BETA 2H (http://www.htmlvalidator.com/)

1. Error in line 2 at character 2: The "html" tag must have an end tag (</html>) but the end tag was not found.

2. Error in line 11 at character 2: The "body" tag must have an end tag (</body>) but the end tag was not found.

3. Error in line 12 at character 2: The "table" tag must have an end tag (</table>) but the end tag was not found.

4. Error in line 13 at character 4: The "tbody" tag must have an end tag (</tbody>) but the end tag was not found.

5. Error in line 52 at character 6: The "tr" tag must have an end tag (</tr>) but the end tag was not found.

6. Error in line 54 at character 8: The "td" tag must have an end tag (</td>) but the end tag was not found.

7. Error in line 54 at character 80: The "style" tag must have an end tag (</style>) but the end tag was not found.

8. Error in line 54 at character 85: The "style" tag has a misplaced or invalid equal sign ('='). Cannot check the rest of the tag.

9. Error in line 315: Reached the end of the document before finding the end tag for "style" in line 54. All text after this tag was ignored.

10. Comment: CSE HTML Validator Professional 10.00 BETA 2H expires on August 1, 2010, 119.53 days from now. Note that BETA versions always expire, even if registered. This messages changes to a warning 21 days before expiration and to an error 10 days before expiration.

11. Comment: "Errors only" mode enabled. Not a thorough or complete validation.

12. Comment: Beginner mode is enabled. This mode may reduce the number of validator messages and make other changes to make this program easier to use, but less powerful. To toggle this mode, please choose Options->Beginner Mode in the editor. See the getting started documentation (Help->Getting Started) for more information.

Never mind, all the errors were caused by one bad tag. Removed it and all is good.

This tool will probably teach me more about HTML than my editor :)

That's good. :D

It takes a little to get use to it but you'll probably pick it up pretty quick.
