CSE Help and CSE Links Stealing a Browser Window

Postby c24m48 » Wed Aug 31, 2005 8:32 pm

If while in CSE, I click on Help or Links and then choose an option, the program opens a browser and goes to a particular URL. Except that if there is a browser open, it steals the browser window, thereby destroying (albeit temporarily) my ability to see what was in the original window. Is there a CSE configuration option to change this behavior so that browser windows are not stolen. Alternatively, are there any browser or Windows options to control this behavior?

Thanks,
Jerry Bryan

Hi Jerry,

Sorry for the delay. I must have missed your question.

Sorry, there is currently no option in CSE HTML Validator to change this behavior. You can work around this by anticipating the "browser theft" by first opening a new browser window and then choosing the option or link that uses a web browser. It will likely use your most recently used browser window. For the record, CSE HTML Validator simply tells the operating system to open a URL and the OS and browser decide how to do it. It seems that what most often happens is that the most recently used browser window is used.
