An irritating development!

I used to use Validator to check php code I was working on by viewing the source in TextPad and using its integration with HTML Validator to check it. The latest version of Opera (9.5) has dropped the use of file extensions for cached files, which means I now have to save the cached file with an extension that HTML Validator recognises before I can check it.

No marks to Opera for that one! I've gone back to the previous version.

Apparently it's related to antivirus measures.

I don't suppose it's possible to set HTML Val.to recognise extensionless files names as HTML is it?

Hello,

If you are using CSE HTML Validator from within TextPad, then it is TextPad's job to determine whether the file can be validated. I suspect TextPad is not letting you use the validator (Tools->HTML Validator in TextPad) on files without an "appropriate" extension?
