UEdit integration

Postby kgish » Sat Apr 02, 2005 4:48 am

I was very pleased to read that uedit has included cse html validator integration.

However, could you please explain how this is achieved? I've looked around but could not easily find any information. Just a link would be fine.

Hello,

Do you have an HTML Validator menu option under the Format menu in UltraEdit-32? You should be able to run it from there.

Okay, so that's where it is been buried. No wonder I could not find it. Anyway, when I do try it I get the following error message:

Code: Select all
Can't load HTML Validator DLL!

Please make sure you have installed HTML Validator

see http://www.htmlvalidator.com/ for details.

Well, I looked there but didn't see anything. Perhaps this could be made known somewhere more obvious in the CSE documentation?

Please try reinstalling CSE HTML Validator into the same directory that you have CSE already installed into and then see if UltraEdit will find the DLL after the reinstall. Be sure to reintall CSE with administrator privileges so that it can place the DLL file in the correct location for UltraEdit to find it.

What version of UltraEdit are you using?

I agree that it is hard to find. I can make a note about where to find it on our pages mentioning UltraEdit, but since UltraEdit decides where it appears, it would be best if they would improve their documentation regarding CSE HTML Validator. I believe they plan to make it more visible in future versions.

Not quite sure I understand what you mean by installing it in the CSE directory -- isn't that where the installer places it anyway?

I am using the most recent version of UEdit 11.00b+.

Also tried copying the file 'csevalidatorV70.dll' to C:\WINDOWS, C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 and even in the UEDIT directory, but I still have the same error message.

Yes, the installer should, by default, reinstall CSE into the previous directory that you installed it in. I just wanted to make sure that you do not change the default by stressing that it should be installed using the same directory that you already installed CSE into.

Besides reinstalling the program with administrator priveleges, if you are going to copy the DLL file, then you should copy the csevalidator70.dll file to the system directory but also rename it csevalidator.dll. So you may want to try renaming those DLL files you copied. But I suggest that you try the reinstall first (with administrator privileges).

Please let me know what happens.
