You can configure HTMLValidator to ignore certain blocks of HTML with
<!--cseignore--> … <!--/cseignore--> tags.
(<cseignore> … </cseignore> are deprecated.)
Unfortunately, <!-- cseignore --> … <!-- /cseignore --> will not work. I think they should. All other comments have a space. They get added as a side effect of tidying.

Hi Roedy,

I tested this with the tidy function in CSE HTML Validator but it did not add spaces to the cseignore comments. Can you be more specific as to what tidying you are doing that is adding the spaces to the cseignore comments and thus causing them not to work? I'm hesitant to allow spaces unless there is a good reason why the current cseignore comments aren't suitable.
