This is where you can change general and miscellaneous options that affect the validator engine.

File Options

Default configuration file - (

Lite) Each time you run HTML Validator, it attempts to automatically load a configuration file. The configuration file contains information about the tags, tag attributes, and attribute values that can be used as well as rules about how they can be used. It also contains compatibility, deprecation, style, and other helpful information. The default configuration file should be specified here with a full pathname such as "C:\Program Files\HTMLValidator80\htmlvalV80.cfg". The file should end in a ".cfg" extension and is created by pressing the Save Config or Save Config As button in the Configuration Editor.

Sound Options

•	Enable sounds - Check this box to enable sounds such as a sound at the end of a validation indicating whether there were any errors or warnings. This option is enabled by default.

•	Play when validation generates errors or warnings - Select the sound to play after a validation that generates error or warning messages. Sound must be enabled for this option to have any effect.

•	Play when validation generates no errors or warnings - Select the sound to play after a validation that generates no error or warning messages. Sound must be enabled for this option to have any effect.

Miscellaneous Options

Autosave configuration instead of asking - (

Pro,

Std,

Lite) Check this box if you always want to save any changes to the configuration without HTML Validator asking you if you want to do so. Otherwise you are asked to save the configuration if it has changed and you attempt to exit the program or load a new configuration. This option is not enabled by default.

•

Never show progress bar - Check this box to disable the showing of the progress bar which is normally displayed during validations. The progress bar shows the validation progress of an individual document and is especially useful when validating large documents and/or validating documents with a slow computer. This option is not enabled by default.

•	Show progress bar to position it - Press this button to show the progress bar so that you can position it where you want it.
