Beginner Mode (
Pro,
Std,
Lite)
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT BEGINNER MODE: CSE HTML Validator Std/Pro defaults to "beginner mode". When in this mode, some settings may be made to simplify the use of the program. For example, validations default to "errors and warnings only" mode so that fewer validation messages are generated. In "errors and warnings only" mode, only the more important messages, which are error and warning messages, are displayed. Other messages and comments are not displayed. It is recommended that you familiarize yourself with CSE HTML Validator in "beginner mode". When you feel that you are comfortable seeing all of the validator messages without being overwhelmed with information, then we recommend that you turn off "beginner mode". To toggle "beginner mode" on and off, please choose Options->Beginner Mode.
Integrated Editor
CSE HTML Validator includes an integrated HTML and general text editor. For maximum productivity, we recommend that you learn about the features of HTML Validator's integrated editor, which you'll probably be using to edit and correct the problems that HTML Validator finds in web documents. However, you don't have to use the integrated editor at all if you use another editor or application that integrates with CSE HTML Validator.
Format and Fix HTML Automatically
Be sure to view the Format and Fix HTML Automatically topic to learn how to format and fix HTML and XHTML documents automatically.
Printing the Validation Messages
A validation report cannot be directly printed from HTML Validator. However, the Batch Wizard can be used to print a validation report. The validation messages can also be copied to the clipboard by selecting Copy Messages to Clipboard in the Results Window context menu. The messages can then be pasted in any editor and then printed using the editor's print function.
Colored Squares
The colored squares in the tabs of the Results Window show the severity of the content of the tab. For example, a red square indicates error messages or, in the case of the Links tab, it indicates that there are bad links. A yellow square indicates warning messages or, in the case of the Links tab, it may indicate that there are redirected links. A blue or green square indicates no error or warning messages or, in the case of the Links tab, that no bad links were found. You should view the contents of any tab with a red or yellow square in front of it.
Notes
| • | You can easily "reload" documents that are opened from the web by choosing Reload from the editor context menu or choosing File->Reload. |
| • | Currently, Open from the Web only supports HTTP requests. HTML Validator does not support HTTPS requests using Open from the Web. However, the integrated web browser does support HTTPS. |
