Thank you both for your help. Meanwhile, I found this great small utility that does just that, and does it also in utf-8 files: http://www.replace-in-files.com/. My problem is solved!

I am using CSE for years now, and I keep missing the possibility of searching and replacing within files, like the good old HomeSite did -- and HTMLPad does. Nowadays I use this last one to do just that. I would be nice if I could do it in CSE. Any prospects for that?
Hello! I searched the forum, sorry if this was suggested already (it seems not): an option to search in files would be great, or at least search in all open files. Actually I miss an option to search and replace in files. Sometimes I revert to the old HomeSite just for that!

Thanks for your prompt reply. It did the trick. I am using Security Essentials by Microsoft. I used NOD32 before and now I am considering going back to it. I will report back if that works. I am a bit nervous about telling the AV not to scan a whole folder.
