Re: CSS HTML Validator 2020 (v20.03) Now Available

Have you updated to 20.03 yet? CSS HTML Validator 2020/v20 (v20.03) has been released! This is a recommended FREE MINOR UPDATE for 2020/v20 users. Versions prior to 2020/v20 (which include 2019/v19, 2018/v18 and prior) may require an upgrade purchase to 2020/v20. Download 2020/v20.03 What's New in ...

Re: Multi-monitor users (with different scaling)

Yes, I would definitely like to give it a try! Let me know when there's something new in the queue. You may be wondering why I never got back to you. :) It's because I was having issues with the component patch to support per-monitor DPI. I'm going to release v20.03 soon and did a final test and it...

Re: Table Border (HTML5)

Thank you! That worked. Great! I tried placing an asterisk and a period in front of the CSS element, but that didn't work. My reason for trying this is in the past the validator always suggested *. in front of CSS tags. Why not this one? There is a recommendation to put a * (asterisk) in front of c...

Re: Table Border (HTML5)

Hello, It's not bordering the cells because a class that applies a border also needs to be applied to each cell... which is probably not a good idea because it's unnecessarily bloated and complex. The easiest thing to do if you want the borders on all tables is: TABLE, TR, TH, TD { BORDER: 1px solid...

Re: Table Border (HTML5)

Hello,

Please try putting this in the stylesheet:

Code: Select all

TABLE, TR, TH, TD
{
BORDER: 1px solid #000000;
}
If you use *.TABLE instead of TABLE, then you will need to use the class="TABLE" attribute with all the elements that you want the border to apply to.

Re: Table Border (HTML5)

I was pretty sure it was on the w3c site, but am unable to find it not (didn't bookmark it earlier). What I'd like to do is have a border of 1px not only around the table, but also between the rows, cells, etc. In the past I've used border="1" (for no border I left the border style out). However, i...

Re: Table Border (HTML5)

Hello, Are you referring to the "border" attribute when used with the "table" element? UPDATE: Sorry! I see that you are now that I noticed the message subject. The latest spec (from the "living standard") for "table" is here: https://html.spec.whatwg.org/multipage/tables.html#the-table-element It d...

Re: Running a portable version of CSE HTML Validator

I've updated the original post to be more current. While this feature was never 'finalized', it is expected to still work with the latest version (although not the trial version), which is currently CSS HTML Validator 2020.

Re: 508 - Loop Detected

That sloooows it down! No loops now on newcastlecameraclub.org, nor puerto-de-mogan.com. I did get them on the one site on the old server that I tried before changing the settings, but none now. Great that you're not getting that error anymore. :D You can "play" with the settings to speed it up (li...

Re: 508 - Loop Detected

Interesting. So it seems to be related to the new server? Can you try slowing down the link checker? Go to the Validator Engine Options and the ' Link Checking ' page and try changing the wait time between checks to 1000 milliseconds or more and lowering the max simultaneous link checks to 5. Then r...

Re: 508 - Loop Detected

Thank you. I received the files and ran it locally but did not encounter the same issue.

Does this always happen when you run this job?

I wonder if something local to your computer or network could be causing this? Are you using any anti-malware programs that might be affecting the link checker?

Re: Configuration for Wordpress Website

Hello, It should definitely check the HTML and CSS. It may not work well on sites that generate HTML from JavaScript though, but you can still check/validate a live DOM (see https://www.htmlvalidator.com/chrome.php ). Have you tried using the trial version of CSS HTML Validator on your website? It s...

Re: Self-closing PATH tags

When researching it, I first checked MDN and saw the examples you cited, and wouldn't have gone further. But then I saw what Chrome was doing under the hood, and it gave me pause. I wonder why Chrome would convert instances of <path /> to <path></path>? According to the quote at the end of your res...

Hello, One of my favorite references is the MDN reference. Here it is for SVG: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/SVG And the SVG element reference: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/SVG/Element And the reference for the "path" element: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/W...
