Re: Using Emojis in markup, odd behaviour in editor

Hi Mike,

Yes, I imagine you are right. The editor developer just responded to my post regarding this and also said that it is hard to implement but that they were evaluating possible ways.

Re: Using Emojis in markup, odd behaviour in editor

Hi Mike,

Thank you for letting me know. I don't use characters/emojis like these so I never ran into this issue myself but I was able to reproduce it using your example code.

I will report this to the editor component developer and hope that they will address it in an update.

Re: Can't save edited HTML files

Thanks, It seems to have been the ransomware protection in Windows Defender. CSS HTML Validator was not on Microsoft's default list of safe programs. I've set Defender to allow CSS HTML Validator access to my files and the problem seems to be gone. Microsoft could have made this easier. Ken Hi Ken,...

Re: Can't save edited HTML files

Hello,

I'm sorry for the trouble.

That's strange. Have you checked the write permissions of the file and folder you are trying to save to? Are you saying that other programs work when you try to save to the same filename/folder?

Could an anti-virus/anti-malware program be interfering?

CSS HTML Validator 2019 Development Computer Build

What's This? I thought I'd "document" yet another new development computer build. I plan to use this new computer to develop the last update(s) of CSS HTML Validator 2019 (v19) , the next major update of CSS HTML Validator 2020 (v20) , and probably 2021 (v21) as well. Some people might be intereste...

Re: Bad links in Batch Report

Hi Rick, I think the ' Master Link Report ' may have what you want. Do you have this report enabled in the 'Link Report' page of the Batch Wizard Options ? https://www.htmlvalidator.com/2019/docs/wizard_options_link_report_node.htm Generate a Master Link Report - Check this box to generate a "Master...

Re: Integration with WeBuilder

Hello, I'm sorry for the trouble. The 32-bit DLL was not updated in v19.0201 and v19.0202. Please go here and download again: https://www.htmlvalidator.com/download/registered.php You should get v19.0203 or higher (even though it may not advertise that version yet). v19.0203 contains an updated 32-b...

Re: Chrome vs Firefox and BSOD

Speaking of Firefox, this was interesting. I had not heard of DNS-over-HTTPS before. It seems to open up a new can of worms.

Re: Cleaning up css

Hi Rick, Thanks for the suggestion. It's certainly a good one but implementation could be time-consuming even though in concept it doesn't seem that complex (the "devil is in the details"). I'll put it on my request list and will have to think in detail about how it might be implemented for a future...

Re: Chrome vs Firefox and BSOD

Yea, there was a time when you got bonus points for tight, efficient code. That was 40 years ago. One of the downsides of cheap RAM. Yep... and a downside of fast computers is less optimized code. I think the fault lies both with websites and browsers (but probably mostly the websites). The browser...

Chrome vs Firefox and BSOD

So about 3 weeks ago a strange problem happened with Chrome. I could not load it or install it without getting a BSOD (yes, my entire computer crashed). I can only imagine/assume this must be a recent Windows or video driver bug because it was working fine before for a long time. My solution was to ...
