Re: Spell check eternal exceptions

What about a way to add a special HTML comment that contains a list of extra words to ignore from the point of the comment to the end of the document? Note that this would only work for the validator spell checking message and not for an 'F7' spell check in the editor. I don't use the batch spell v...

schema.dcterms

When "rel" contains "schema.dcterms", an "href" attribute with the value "http://purl.org/dc/terms/" is expected, but this wasn't found.
<link rel="schema.dcterms" href="http://dublincore.org/documents/2012/06 ... s/?v=terms#">

It is redirected. Is it best to leave it at the original?

displaying colours

see http://mindprod.com/jgloss/colourscheme.html#MINDPRODCOLOURS I display colours both in the context of a foreground and as a background colour. I tend to select colours based on how they look as background colours, but if you look at the foreground context, often they are not suitable. I suggest ...

spell checking entified words

I understand you did not write the spell checking engine. You have to live with its limitations. I think this strategy may work even if it cannot handle entities. You have to modify your spell checking parser that finds words to look up for spell checking to treat entities as if they were single Uni...

Spell check eternal exceptions

In spell checking, when it finds a word not in the dictionary, I have two choices: 1. add a new word to the dictionary 2. ignore the problem. If I add it to the dictionary, this word becomes legit in all other contexts, something often inappropriate. If I ignore it, the next time I spell check, it w...

Fixing the spell check dictionaries

Sometimes the spell checker offers me, as an alternative spelling, a bad word, one I accidentally added to the extras list. I would like get rid of it so I don't accidentally use it in future. Further, I would like to review my list of extras from time to time to prune it of junk.

the other "gibberish" I currently mark with <span class="sic"> to mean that I am quoting something in error, and I don't want to accidentally fix it.

Spell checking, yet again, multiple dictionaries

My website uses a number of "languages": 1. Canadian English ( colour, travelling ) 2. US English ( color, traveling ), mostly in the many quotations from Americans 3. slang. Mostly in quotations. Outside that I consider it an error. 4. smatterings of French, German, Latin, Hebrew and Arabic, along ...

User functions file(s)

The help on user function file suggests you can have only one. In my case I would like to have two, one to invoke caching and one to invoke autoload of failing files. I presume it is possible to combine the two functions into one script. but it would simpler to allow multiple functions separated by ...

Re: ./ = index.html

I have done a number of experiments and I found ./ only works in the root directory. Elsewhere you must use ../.././ etc. I could not repeat my strange results of jumping home successfully with ./ from E:\mindprod\jgloss\jgloss.html The catch is, browsers don't understand what it means when serving ...

./ = index.html

HTMLValidator asked me to read http://webtips.dan.info/subdir.html#LinkHome It asked me to replace all links of the form ../../../index.html with ./ To my astonishment, this trick works both on the web and locally. The puzzle is, how does the browser know in which directory to look for the index.htm...

Re: Speeding up Batch Validate revisited

Have you considered the problem of what happens if *.html files are deleted? Ideally, from time to time their cache entries should be deleted or you should clear the entire cache and start over.

If they are recreated, the cache entry will be effectively invalidated, so it more a matter of tidyness.
