Re: Self-closing PATH tags

When researching it, I first checked MDN and saw the examples you cited, and wouldn't have gone further. But then I saw what Chrome was doing under the hood, and it gave me pause. I wonder why Chrome would convert instances of <path /> to <path></path>? According to the quote at the end of your res...

Re: Self-closing PATH tags

Hello, One of my favorite references is the MDN reference. Here it is for SVG: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/SVG And the SVG element reference: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/SVG/Element And the reference for the "path" element: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/W...

Re: Best domain name registrar

I wanted to update this post/thread. I am still using namesilo and have not had any problems with them. I am consolidating all of my domains with them. I even sold a domain name through them and the commission was only 3% (but can go up to 7.5% I think). https://www.namesilo.com/static/assets/img/lo...

rel="nofollow", rel="ugc", and rel="sponsored"

You've probably heard of "nofollow" links, but have you heard about "ugc" and "sponsored" links? If not then you may want to read Qualify your outbound links to Google . These relatively new "rel" values ("ugc" and "sponsored") will be recognized in the next update to CSS HTML Validator 2020 . Extra...

Do you use input type=number? This is interesting...

I came across this article a few days ago. If you use <input type="number"> then you may want to read this interesting article. It talks about problems with it, including with accessibility. It recommends this instead: <input type="text" inputmode="numeric" pattern="[0-9]*"> Here's the link: Why the...

Re: Multi-monitor users (with different scaling)

So I looked up your manifest. You actually did not mark the application as being per monitor dpi aware , excerpt: <dpiAware xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/SMI/2005/WindowsSettings">true</dpiAware> <dpiAwareness xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/SMI/2016/WindowsSettings">system</dpiAwareness>...

Multi-monitor users (with different scaling)

If you use CSS HTML Validator 2020 and multiple monitors at different DPIs/scaling, then please comment here in the forum, send me a private message, or email me.

I'm working on making CSS HTML Validator per-monitor DPI aware.

Thank you!

Re: Host Recomendation

Hi Lou,

I'm sorry to hear that. What host was it?

I have heard good things about Pair (pair.com) but have not used them myself.

I use a Linode server for htmlvalidator.com and would highly recommend them if you're looking for a Linux host and want to manage your own Linux server.

Re: Windows 10 Edge browser bugs and Windows 10

I just checked in two versions of Edge. The original and a "Canary Build" of the Chromium version. I can confirm that it works in both. Those are versions 44... and 82... Hi Mike, Thanks for checking! I found this link that helps explain Edge version numbers: https://www.whatismybrowser.com/guides/...

Re: Windows 10 Edge browser bugs and Windows 10

Cool! Maybe they'll fix it in 2020.... You posted that back in April of 2016.... and I think you were right! It's been awhile and I just tested again and it looks like it's fixed in Edge/18.18362... and it's 2020! Apparently this version of the Edge browser is "Microsoft Edge version 44 with EdgeHT...

Re: Use <I> or <SPAN> or what?

Hello, It sounds like you've done a lot of research on this! I'll throw my opinions out there. I would not use "i" or any element if it were just for presentation (where CSS would be more appropriate). But if it's a gray area or it's questionable then I think "i" would be fine and so would <span>, s...
