Comments in css

Hi Albert, I noticed this a few weeks ago and made a mental note to bug it. Saw it again today and decided I better do it now. :? This code properly shows css comments as green: #menu a{margin:0;/*padding:0 8px;font-size:14px;font-weight:700;*/text-decoration:none However, if I move the comment to b...

Pragma no-cache

Hi Albert, A PCI audit a few years ago (before HTML5) recommended we add this: <meta http-equiv="pragma" content="no-cache"><meta http-equiv="cache-control" content="no-store,no-cache"> ... yet CSE complains and calls it an error. The "pragma" pragma directive specified by the "http-equiv" attribute...

Re: Windows 10 Edge browser bugs and Windows 10

M$ wants people to drop everything including IE and Chrome and move to Edge, when Edge can't be tweaked much and has bugs as nasty as IE.

I'm not falling for it.

Android has overtaken Windows for the first time as the most popular OS in total internet usage across all platforms

http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/04/03/android-overtaken-windows-first-time-popular-os-total-internet-usage-across-desktop-laptop-tablet-mobile-combined/ To summarize the article, half of all Internet traffic can be attributed to Android so if you've been on the ropes wondering if you need a respon...

Re: Test how mobile-friendly your site is.

I already have a mobile friendly site, so I just scrunch the browser to a narrow width of about 300px, which is the same size as a dinky iPhone, checking for problems as I change the width. I might have to add a css @media tag to tweak something below certain widths or add a background image only wi...

Re: Test how mobile-friendly your site is.

Hi Lou,

Try Opera Mobile Emulator. It doesn't have all the features of Chrome for Android, and renders via Opera's older engine, but still does a decent job. FWIW, it hasn't been updated in years.

Re: Google's Guetzli Image Optimizing Algorithm

I was all over it and checking for a Paint.net plug-in, even considering creating a login for Paint.net's forum to request the plug-in.

Now, not so much.

Re: Google's Guetzli Image Optimizing Algorithm

ImageOptim now support Guetzli , but check out the comment about how slow it is. https://imageoptim.com/changelog.html#v1.7.1 It's off by default (enable in Preferences), because it's very slow: 1 minute + 300MB RAM per megapixel. It is normal for a large photo to take 30 minutes and gigabytes of m...

Recent changes in FF question how long I'll be using it.

I've been using FireFox for years as it had the best development tools for my use. Love the console and being able to see what css was used when I clicked on something on the screen. Also liked being able to see what actual CSS was being used on my site when I hit several pages. Recent changes to re...

Re: Google's Guetzli Image Optimizing Algorithm

I wonder where I got the idea to use Tinypng? I think Google found out that sites like Tiny and JpegMini were reducing the number of colors (which decreases file size) with good success and decided to "roll their own" to create a standard. I agree with stupid website developers. Turn on every...

Page rendering is now using the Blink engine they started using in Chrome about 3 years ago and...
