Comments within a tag ?

Post by mikeballentine » Fri Jan 31, 2014 5:50 am

I use Apache Server Side Includes comments extensively and sometimes include inside a tag:

<div id="page" <!--#if something -->blah blah<!--#endif --> >

Error: Found the character '<' while looking for '>'.

Is there a way to allow these to validate? I don't want to disable the entire message, as <> matching seems useful otherwise.

Thanks

Hi Mike,

Can you send me (to support at htmlvalidator dot com) some actual samples of this problem? I may be able to have CSE HTML Validator ignore SSI includes in tags (as long as they are in the form <!--# ... -->). There is currently no option to do so, however.

CSE HTML Validator already ignores PHP and ASP sections so I don't think it would be too difficult to also ignore SSI's but some concrete examples would be helpful to make sure.

UPDATE: Support for ignoring SSIs in tags will be in the next update.
