I am using version 14.01 Pro with Windows 8.1 Pro.
My files are HTML 4.01 Transitional (specified in the DOCTYPE) and they validate with no errors on the W3C Validator website.
CSE detects my files as HTML 4.01 but shows errors and warnings that apply to HTML 5.
In the DOCTYPE Control options the only options are (auto), HTML5, XHTML5 and Polyglot, and the accompanying text says that if my documents specify a DOCTYPE then it will be given priority, so I should not be getting messages relating to HTML5.
Please can you tell me how to suppress the HTML5 messages?
Thank you
Alan Wood

Re: HTML 4.01 files validate as HTML5
Hi Alan,
Can you send me your document or a sample document that I can use to reproduce this to support at htmlvalidator dot com? If you can't do that, can you copy and paste the problematic messages here? I need to know exactly what messages you are reporting a problem with so I can figure out why they are being generated for your HTML 4.01 documents.
Thanks.
