The "id" attribute value has already been used.

Post by RSteinwand » Fri Apr 22, 2016 9:06 am

Hi Albert,

I'm seeing this message today:
The "id" attribute value "phone" has already been used in this document....
Now I need to find the previous line and it isn't immediately apparent. :?

Could the statement say what line number the previous id is on to make it simpler to find?

Thanks.
Rick

Hi Rick,

I'll see what I can do. :)

I don't think It should be too hard to find it with a normal search though (search for "phone" or id="phone").

I did find it and fix it, but if it's an easy change it would be helpful.

Thanks.

OK. It wasn't too hard to add this without a performance hit (unless there is a duplicated ID error in which case it will need to do a little extra work).

So in most cases v16.0306+ should now tell you the tag and its line number where the ID was first used.
