TS 4 pops up unexpectedly in Visual Studio

After upgrading to TS4, I got a irritating behavior: almost every time I open an Aspx file in Visual Studio, TS 4 pops into the foreground and tries to open a default project. How do I get rid of this behavior?

Probably because CSS documents are associated with TopStyle. I don't know how to "fix" Visual Studio for you, but some user told me deleting some Visual Studio registry key fixed this problem. This leads me to believe this is a Visual Studio problem, not a TopStyle problem.

Anybody has an idea? I suspected it had to do with something like .css in the aspx text, but I could not find a reproducible example, and it looks like it pops up only the first time the document is opened after VS start.

When I first saw your OP my thought was windows "default program" settings.

Go to Control Panel > Default Programs > Associate a file type or protocol with a program

Scroll down and find the file type and see which application is the default. The default can be changed.

Change to what? Css should be opened with TopStyle, and it does when I double-click. But not, when there I just look at an aspx text that might contain .css. It is not the default editor for aspx.

This is some VS integration issue.

Search for topstyle4.exe in the Visual Studio registry key. Then delete this value.
