Anyone still using Windows 95, 98, or Me?

Post by Albert Wiersch »

CSE HTML Validator v8.0 will likely drop support for Windows 95, 98, and Me (Windows 9x). This will be helpful in developing future versions and in promoting stability and reliability as Windows NT, 2000, and XP are far more stable and reliable than Windows 9x. I doubt this will affect many users, but I'm interested to know if anyone is still running CSE HTML Validator on Windows 9x. If you are, then please let me know by replying to this topic. And, if so, please let me know why you are still using Windows 9x and if and when you plan to upgrade to Windows 2000, XP, or the upcoming Windows Vista OS.

I would encourage droppng support of Win9x since Microsoft has ended all support for 95 and 98 (not sure about ME).

I concur. Most other tools I use in my daily work have already done this

Yes, Windows Me is included.

"July 11, 2006 will bring a close to Extended Support for Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows Me as part of the Microsoft Lifecycle Policy. Microsoft will retire public and technical support, including security updates, by this date."
