In v6.53, the check on the validity of the meta tag is handled incorrectly. In some instances, an error is reported that the tag must be closed properly <meta .... /> while the slash is already entered; in other instances the programs states "The attribute "/" does not have a value. All attributes must have a value. This is required for XHTML/XML documents or if the option to require attribute values is enabled." and then, strangely enough, no error is reported is the slash is taken out!
Any ideas what could cause this problem?

Hello,
The messages will vary depending on your settings and whether you are checking an HTML or XHTML document. Please post a small sample document that reproduces the problem and I'll be happy to investigate.

This may be caused by not having the XML compatibility option checked in the Validator 2 tab of the Validator Engine Options. Do you have this option checked? If not, try checking it. It looks like you might have also checked the Require optional end tags option which is why the program would be saying that the img tag must be closed.bavel wrote:http://dienske.dyndns.org:3990

That solved the problem - thanks. I probably misinterpreted 'require optional end tags', and could not access the Help. When I click the Help-button in the window that shows the options I get a message "The file /C:/Program cannot be found" (in Dutch, BTW) in my browser window. Thinking about a complete reinstall of the system anyway - had too many software test installations on it - and they all leave some rubbish behind.
