On the issue of checking source and checking output, I'd recommend checking the actual generated page, whatever else you do.

(Checking source is actually a different job, if you have an output processor (JSP, ASP, ASPX...). In that case separate configurations are needed.)

What you do depends on what you are comfortable with. One approach that springs to mind, for those who don't mind a little light programming is to code up a script.
