Hi Albert, I'm using 7.01 . When I go to the property tab in batch wizard, I don't get the drop down like I see in the open-from-web dialog. Instead I get a text entry field . This is on a Windows 2003 machine. I haven't tested on other machines. I did run a check to see where the drop down is popul...

Hi Albert, I haven't reproduced the issue this morning. Situation was: 1) Using batch mode and edit from within browser (edit button...), and some open from web (I think). 2) A page that renders differently for different browsers. 3) I got unexpected content in the editor, presumably via the edit-in...

Different config files, batch tool

I was checking some files in batch mode today. Some I can control completely. Others have content automatically generated by frameworks, parts of the content are beyond my reach. In such circumstances I can see benefit in being able to use different config files , in batch mode. This could be a setu...

.NET Interop and version 8

I would like to see the ability to use the DLL from .NET . (One approach might be to make the DLL COM compatible and let a developer run the tool that automatically creates an Interop assembly.) Failing that one approach could be Load up config and batch files Start invisible CSE process Use send-ke...

Drop down list for user agents

When setting user agents (like batch/target/URL-Specific) a drop down list of user agents would be useful.

Ideally a simple file that the developer can edit would give flexibility.

User Agent in Editor

In the batch tool a user agent can be defined. In the editor I'm not aware of a similar setting. As a consequence I can get validation messages in batch mode that cannot be checked in the editor. Example: I have an ASPX page partly written by me and partly by third party page components. (I don't ha...

CSE not working from Edit

I had an interesting experience today. The edit button/drop down was disabled on some web pages. (So I couldn't run CSE directly from the browser.) The symptom was a greyed out edit button. At first I thought it was related to local server / remote server and permissions but experimentation disprove...

Selected in XHTML

If I'm not mistaken you use
selected="selected".

(I find that very odd and think selected="true" is better syntax.)

XHTML 1.x transitional looks sensible to me.

Last time I checked XHTML 2, looked like it would die. I thought it was like the result of people getting carried away with "religious" ideas and contained silly decisions.

Yep Justine it's those BOM. As you say you need to use the common part of the ASCII set. This tends to mean numeric entities are safer in many cases. Passing the material through different editors and CMS packages gives interesting results!! I put up a little article about some experiences at: http:...

ASP.NET tags

Hi, I had a good look at this some time ago. It's a fairly hard job and the markup emitted by ASP.NET 1.1 was fairly horrific. I made a couple of suggestions back then. I haven't yet checked ASP.NET 2.0. I have however checked some existing ASP.NET 1.1 stuff in the last few days. (This code works, i...

Statistics on use of DTD's

Has anyone got statistics indicating the use of the different DTD's in web pages.

They might be:

Not Declared
...
XHTML 1.0 Transitional
...
XHTML 1.0 Frameset
XHTML 1.1

etc.

If not actual statistics has anyone got a tool, maybe a Turnabout/Trixie/Greasemonkey based logger?

Why use Lite?

Hi Albert, Thanks for that. I'll make a note of it for future. As to why use it, my situation is clear cut. (It may not be as atypical as I first thought. What web site owner doesn't want to put himself in the shoes of a savvy user??) I'm looking at ways that other people judge web sites. In that pr...

Compare to Firefox

With Firefox the issue is the opposite (in a way). The extension gives only Lite, see other thread.
