[Solved] 'Target=' Error Message (HTML Validator v10.01

HTML Validator is displaying the following error: The value of the "target" attribute should be a string that does not begin with an underscore character (_) or be one of the following reserved keyword: "_blank", "_parent", "_self", or "_top". It was triggered by 'target="_blank"' in the a href link...

Great! I'm going to remove the double slash - just one less error to look at!

Thanks,

Re: Forward Slash Error (v10.01 Pro)

I would imagine the error is caused by the two slashes between "files" and "ORD%2013868.pdf" files//ORD%2013868.pdf John Oops!!! I was focusing on the first two slashes - didn't even see the second pair! Unfortunately that's the exact URL from the web site so I'll just ignore the error (and get new...

Forward Slash Error (v10.01 Pro)

I've just updated to version 10.01 PRO and am getting the following error: It appears that two (or more) consecutive forward slash characters ("//") were used in this URL where only one should have been used. This may cause problems in some browsers. Please check the link. Here's the line that's cau...

Re: Font Family Tag Confusing (v10.00.03)

If you're OK with mixing the serif font with the sans-serif font, then you can right-click on the message (when shown in the Results Window in CSE HTML Validator's editor) and disable the message. Otherwise you can get rid of one or the other font names and then use the "generic" font that matches ...

Re: Font Family Tag Confusing (v10.00.03)

The problem here is that the Times family are serifed fonts. Helvetica is a sans-serif (without-serif) font. In other words the end of the strokes that make up letters are plain in a sans font whereas they're "decorated" in a serifed font. It's easy to check this out, to see whether you agree with ...

Font Family Tag Confusing (v10.00.03)

I'm trying to figure out what you are saying when I get this error message: Typefaces from more than one family were given. Typically, for a consistent look, the typefaces should all be from the same font family. Number of serif family typefaces: 2 ("serif", "times new roman"), sans-serif: 1 ("helve...

Re: FLAG # 9 (Align)

Hello, I think this is a CSS question more than anything, so I've moved it to the CSS forum. I think the CSS you want is style="float: right". Please try that and let me know if it does what you want. I think I need to update that CSE message too. I hope this helps. It sure did help; just the effec...

FLAG # 9 (Align)

Not sure this is a Technical; Support questions so if it's in the wrong forum, please move it! Just got a flag # 9 about using "align="right" rather than the proper CSS. Problem is, if I use the CSS ("margin-left: auto; margin-right: 0"), the text is pushed down below the item that's aligned to the ...

Re: ICRA No Longer Exists

I've changed the links in the messages from http://www.icra.org/ to http://www.icra.org/webmasters/. :D Looks like that link is now a 404. Maybe it will come back or maybe I should just drop the ICRA checking? Who uses the (now apparently defunct) ICRA? Is that a necessary thing any more? What abou...

Re: ICRA No Longer Exists

Wow!!! Both gone!!!

I'd wait a bit as maybe there's a server problem.

Or more likely - since it looks like their home page has disappeared - they may be moving to a new/different server?

Re: HTML Validator v10.00.03 Deletes Lines in File!

I haven't forgotten about this problem. I have not seen it at all since posting the problem. I am carefully watching it so that if it happens again, I'll look at the file and see if it's been folded (hidden) - as you suggested. I did fix the auto check problem; thanks for pointing out where that was...

Re: ICRA No Longer Exists

However, http://www.icra.org/webmasters/ Wow! It does still exist. I couldn't find it by typing in http://www.icra.org. I ended up at the Family Online Safety Institute site. Looked at all the links from the home page and didn't find it. Thanks for updating it! I'll have to bookmark that URL! Maybe...

ICRA No Longer Exists

Just checked a web page using HTML Validator Pro v10.0003 and received the following error message: An old ICRA PICS label was found but a new RDF label was not. Re: HTML Validator v10.00.03 Deletes Lines in File!

Steps taken to cause this to happen: Open Windows Explorer and browse to folder containing the file. Right click on the file and select "HTML Validator" (I created a "Send to" content menu entry because I use the program so much). As soon as file opens, HTML Validator automatically checks the file a...
