I am upgrading my site to HTML5, and one of my needs to to replace the top block of code in many scripts with HTML% code for example

Code: Select all

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "">
<html xmlns=""   xml:lang="en" lang="en">
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
<meta http-equiv="cache-control" content="no-cache" />
<meta http-equiv="content-script-type" content="text/javascript" />
<meta http-equiv="content-style-type" content="text/css" />
<meta http-equiv="pragma" content="no-cache" />
<meta name="Description" content="London Halfcabs Database, History, Fleetlist, Build / Withdrawn Dates, Disposals, Gslleries, Garages, Trams, Tramcars, Trolleybus, Service Fleet, RT, RTL, RTW, Routemaster, B D G Utilities, RLH, TD, C, G, GS, LT, LTC, LTL, Scooters, NS, Q type, RF, RFW, RM, ST, STL, STD, SRT, T Type, TF," />
<meta name="googlebot" content="archive" />
<meta name="robots" content="all" />
<meta name="author" content="Roy Vandersteen" />
<link rel="canonical" href="../Templates/resources/inc/resources/inc/phpmyedit-form.php?page_id=1" />
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/inc/myicon.ico" />
<title>The Wartime Utilities Gallery</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../css/redamp.css" />
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../css/tableCC.css" />
To This

Code: Select all

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<meta charset="utf-8">
<title>The AEC Renown 3 Axel LT Gallery</title>
<meta name="Description" content="London Halfcabs Database, History, Fleetlist, Build/Withdrawn Dates, Disposals, Galleries, LT">
<meta name="robots" content="all">
<meta name="author" content="Roy Vandersteen">
<link rel="icon" href="/inc/myicon.ico">
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../css/redamp.css">
$tble = 'LT';
I cannot do this Validator because It will only accept one line of code per change, So I have to switch to Notepad++ or similar
and switching between editors is a recipe for disaster.
Any suggestion would be welcome

You are right that CSE HTML Validator's editor has only basic search and replace functionality.

Can you make a backup of your files, do the search and replace operation in another editor, then close that editor and go back to using CSE HTML Validator? I don't think that should be a recipe for disaster... or perhaps I am missing something?
