The code in question was this:
Code: Select all
<svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="24" height="24" viewBox="0 0 24 24">
<title>menu</title>
<desc>three stacked horizontal bars</desc>
<path fill="none" d="M0 0h24v24H0z" />
<path fill="#565656" d="M3 18h18v-2H3v2zm0-5h18v-2H3v2zm0-7v2h18V6H3z" />
</svg>
But IE complained of the PATH elements:
Was this right? I searched for documentation confirming this, but couldn't find any.Tag cannot be self-closing. Use an explicit closing tag.
Then I opened the same HTML in Chrome, and in the DOM it quietly converted the self-closing PATH tags to explicitly closed PATH tags, like this:
Code: Select all
<svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="24" height="24" viewBox="0 0 24 24">
<title>menu</title>
<desc>three stacked horizontal bars</desc>
<path fill="none" d="M0 0h24v24H0z"></path>
<path fill="#565656" d="M3 18h18v-2H3v2zm0-5h18v-2H3v2zm0-7v2h18V6H3z"></path>
</svg>
