I do not know if this is just me, but for some reason TopStyle 4 appears to be much slower to load than earlier versions.
If I open it for the first time it takes quite a while for the various tabs to become active. I get the same delay when I have not used it for a while and return to the open application. The tabs will be inactive for a while. Once it is active it is then fine.
I get an even longer delay when I open windows explorer and select a file that is associated with TopStyle. It takes 10 to 15 seconds to load into topstyle. This does not happen with any other application.
Is there anyway of improving the loading performance of TopStyle 4.
Thanks,
Dododi

Are you running the latest (4.0.0.63) version? Disabling the HTML toolbar might improve on the launch time.

Re: TopStyle 4 seems slower than earlier versions
Yes I am using the latest version.
Removing the tool bar has sped up things a bit. I don't use it anyway, so no great loss.
Thanks

Re: TopStyle 4 seems slower than earlier versions
I was running version 4.0.0.63 and experienced the same with additional issues. When typing in the editor it would freeze for about 3-4 seconds. Other times - I could type something like: font-weight: bold; and as I typed each character it would show up very slowly like a major lag/delayed response; as if I was faster than the computer. I double checked resources - plenty of RAM free - Processor is fine, etc.. It acted like I was in some type of OpenGL mode as if the editor had to render the text. Even with this latest version it is doing it.
Just typed in:
** ... = denotes a delay
.testing {
font-family: ver - it acted like : v....e....r....d (I think back spaced it and was slow and the Style Inspector would flicker
}
Am I missing a setting some where?
System specs:
WinXP
Quad Core Processor Core i7-860, 2.8GHz, 8MB
4GB DDR3, 1333MHz
512MG Nvidia Quadro FX 580 Dual DP
Thank in advance!

Re: TopStyle 4 seems slower than earlier versions
I cannot seem to reproduce this "freeze".
Please send me
1) A copy of your settings (Options > Export Settings)
2) The exact document you're working on
3) repeatable steps (if possible)
Thanks!

I too am experiencing similar performance problems, but they sound more severe than described - to the point Topstyle becomes unusable. And then if I leave it for a bit it seems to correct itself.

Re: TopStyle 4 seems slower than earlier versions
Some advice I received has seemed to resolve my issues.
The #1 thing that made a huge difference was turning off "Firebug-mode"
This feature seems to force the screen to redraw itself on every little thing you do and also seems to buffer up which caused the slow down.
I can see where it can be useful when "tweaking" - but not for normal usage.

Re: TopStyle 4 seems slower than earlier versions
I'm having the same issue with TopStyle 4 being slower and even freezing. I'm using version 4.0.0.83 which I believe to be the last version. What I'd like to know is: How do you turn off firebug-mode?

Re: TopStyle 4 seems slower than earlier versions
When you're edit your CSS - do you show the Output window? i.e. to preview the page you're working on or run the Style Checker, etc.
If so - you will see a little bug if pressed/selected it will "Auto-update CSS preview immediately (aka Firebug-mode)"
