Obvious HTML error ignored on validation

Hello,
As a result of a careless copy & paste, I pasted the following snippet of text:

On validation of the HTML file, this error wasn't flagged, either as an error or as a warning.
Using Editor V.19.0121 (Std); Engine v19.0121 (Std), accessed from Ultraedit.

Hello,

I'm assuming you are referring to the "http://https://" at the start of the link?

The link checker should catch that problem. If you validate in CSS HTML Validator's editor and then go to the Links tab in the Results Window and run a link check then it should show an error for that link.
